A visit from Bill

Bill passed to the other side in September of 2010.  But this was not to be the last time I saw him or felt his presence.

In the same year in the month of December I started having a great deal of trouble with my eyes.  I had previously been diagnosed with macular degeneration (the dry type) which seems to plague our family in later years.  My already challenged vision, seemed to take a dramatic change and it was very unnerving.  I had Darrell call the Moran eye center to get an appointment with Dr. Bernstein. Darrell explained my situation and desire to see the Doctor and they told us Dr. Bernstein was out of the country and would not be able to get me an appointment with him for at least 3 weeks.  My heart sunk and I was afraid that if I had to wait that long something seriously wrong would happen to my vision.  The next day Bonnie, from the Moran Eye Center called to ask how I was.  Bonnie had been the person in charge of the eye study I had participated in earlier.  Bonnie had never called me before or since and I felt that there had been an influence on her on my behalf.  Bonnie suggested I go to the Moran emergency center.  I really felt reluctant to do this because it is so hard for me to describe what it is like when you can’t see well.  I asked her what she would do and she responded, “If it was me, I would go.”   I called Val and she took me in.   The next day they gave me a shot to stop the leaking of a blood vessel that was causing the vision problems I was having.

I was so grateful for getting some quick results and help for my situation that I distinctly remember praying on my way down the stairs of my home to give thanks to God for the intervention in my life.  As I walked into the bedroom, I was startled as I saw Bill’s face in front of me,  He was smiling at me.  His face was smooth and healthy and he looked so very good. He looked at me and I got the impression he was saying “ I told you I would take care of you!”  I became aware of him going by me and up the stairs.  Because I was startled all I could get out at the time was “thanks Bill.”

I have been conscience of his presence at other times since and I know he is aware of what is going on here and I am grateful for his help.

Since Bill died I have also seen my Mother.  It was a dream and she was standing by the bed in her little navy blue dress with little white and pink flowers and a white collar.  She was smiling at me and she looked like she did when I was a kid.  I tried to go toward her and said Mother I am so glad to see you but I couldn’t.  I hadn’t seen her for forty years.  It was so good to see her.

Gone, but not Forgotten

President Joseph F. Smith once said, “I believe we move and have our being in the presence of heavenly messengers and of heavenly beings. We are not separate from them. … We are closely related to our kindred, to our ancestors … who have preceded us into the spirit world. We can not forget them; we do not cease to love them; we always hold them in our hearts, in memory, and thus we are associated and united to them by ties that we can not break. … If this is the case with us in our finite condition, surrounded by our mortal weaknesses, … how much more certain it is … to believe that those who have been faithful, who have gone beyond … can see us better than we can see them; that they know us better than we know them. … We live in their presence, they see us, they are solicitous for our welfare, they love us now more than ever. For now they see the dangers that beset us; … their love for us and their desire for our well being must be greater than that which we feel for ourselves. [ Joseph F. Smith, in Conference Report, Apr. 1916, 2–3; see alsoGospel Doctrine, 5th ed. (1939), 430–31.]

Still thinking of you dad, and trust that you're still working to help your family return to the God, and Father of us all.
